Hi Family,
Yay for updates…. and procrastinating!...Sorry Bealer!!
Not much has really transpired over the past year. I was sort of stuck in a holding pattern because I was still a newbie at work and I was still desperately trying to pass my CPA exam. Now, I’m a Second Year Associate, which essentially means I have to try twice as hard to look like I know what I’m talking about. Regarding my exam, as of 3 days ago…I officially PASSED!! It’s a 4 part exam and it was my sixth, yes, sixth attempt at passing the last part. Needless to say, words cannot describe how relieved I am to have such a huge weight lifted off of my shoulders.
Over the summer, I traveled to Texas for a work thing and road my first mechanical bull…lasted like 4 seconds at best, but it was completely worth it.
I was asked to be a bridesmaid for the first time in my friend’s wedding and got to pick out dresses with her so that was fun.
I’ve grown my nail polish collection significantly. I think I’m becoming a nail polish hoarder…do they have groups for that?
I also participated in my first (and most likely last) Tough Mudder. Warrior Dash was like an afternoon stroll compared to it, but I was really happy we did that first so I would have some idea of what to expect. It was by far one of the biggest challenges I have ever faced (right up there with THON). Our team took 5 hours to finish, but it was an incredible feeling after, knowing that I survived and conquered a lot of my fears so that I could complete the course. The Wounded Warrior Project is a phenomenal cause and the people I met and the sense of camaraderie I felt that day will be something I’ll never forget.
As for my love life, I’m still dating that Rafal character. We are back to the whole long distance thing since he moved to Bloomsburg, but it’s been fun attempting to act like adults and cook dinner together and stuff. He still won’t trust me to cook anything so I stick to making the salad and scrambled eggs…and bacon. One time, we made chocolate chip pancakes and I added the chocolate chips. We still fight all the time, usually over important topics such as Halloween costumes, the Discovery channel, and who packs more like a girl (Rafal I think won that one…one word: v-necks). <3
I’m still living at home, but I’m looking to move out of my home by next winter. I think I’m the last one out of all of us to grow up so it’s just a matter of deciding where I want to go and then seeing if I can figure things out with work. Stay tuned, I could be coming to a city near you!
Lastly, but most importantly, Hurricane Sandy happened. We lost power for 7 days and several homes in my town were damaged from fallen trees. We were incredibly lucky compared to so many people. So many of my friends and acquaintances through work lost a lot more. My cousin moved into her apartment in Long Beach (Long Island) 3 weeks before the hurricane and now won’t be able to return for a least a month while they clean up and restore power to the area. Then there was the whole gas shortage where we waited on 2 hour lines just to tank up. Oh then the Nor’easter happened a week later and the building where I work lost power. I’m sure you have your own stories about the storm, and the majority of my update is meant to make you laugh, but I just want to say how incredibly important this Thanksgiving will be to me. You kids are a huge part of that. I’m thankful for all of you and yes that includes being thankful for your weird habits, your odd quirks, and your gross spider toes (you know who you are). Thank you all for bringing me joy and laughter all the time. Okay enough sentimental gobble-dee-gook…hope you enjoyed my update!
